Legal English // Adult Courses
Our Legal English course helps students develop their English language skills so that they can communicate effectively in a legal working environment. Many of our clients are lawyers from some of the leading international law firms. Lawyers and legal professionals need to be able to understand documents written in English and to communicate effectively with professional colleagues around the world. At the end of the course, students will be able to communicate effectively with lawyers and legal professionals.
When you’re undertaking this course, you will take receive 10 lessons of Legal English and 20 lessons of General English per week.
Legal English uses task-based learning which involves group exercise, supervised discussions, role play and presentations. Students will develop their abilities in key skills such as speaking, listening, reading and writing. Also, they will widen their understanding of essential Legal English, language structures, vocabulary, appropriate common expressions and grammar.
Typical Course Content
The Legal English course will typically develop language appropriate to the following areas:
- Company law
- Contract law
- Employment law
- Sale of goods
- Property law
- Intellectual property
- Competition law
- Negotiable instruments
- Secured transactions
Legal English runs in 12 week terms, but you can study for a little or as long as you wish.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long are classes?
Each lesson in 45 minutes long.
Our Specialist Courses offer you 30 lessons per week. This means you receive 22.5 hours of tuition per week. Some of your classes will be in the afternoon.
When can I start studying?
You can enrol at ETC from any Monday of your choice. On your first Monday at ETC you will take a test that will help us decide which level of classes you need.
You must be level B2 English in order to enrol on a Specialist English course at ETC.
