Medical Emergencies

The authority of a parent/guardian is required before emergency medical, surgical or dental treatment can be carried out in the event of a serious accident or illness. To avoid delay in arranging emergency treatment if permission cannot, for any reason, be obtained, we recommend permission is given to ETC in advance by declaring authority on this permission form.

Transportation

I understand that to fulfil their programme my child may travel using public transport, licenced taxi and/or a coach hired or owned by ETC International College with a driver that is authorised by law and insured to drive. I understand that students may be unsupervised when using public transport. I understand that 14-17 year olds in homestay accommodation will travel independently to and from school.

Activities and Excursions

I give permission for my child to participate in the ETC activities, which take place on and off ETC premises, using transport arranged by ETC or public transport, where necessary. I understand that the supervision of my child can be either close or remote

Supervision

Students under 18 years old are minors in UK law. If your child is 16 or 17 and is studying on an adult course, he or she may not be supervised outside of lesson time.

Students aged 14 & 15 may also have periods of no supervision during their free time and at weekends.

Group Leaders are responsible for the supervision of their students outside of lesson times.

(Accommodation arrangements are risk assessed prior to arrival and safeguarding arrangements put in place. Junior students will never share a room with a student aged 18+, unless requested in writing by the parent).

Ages 13 and under must not leave their homestay accommodation unsupervised, at any time.
Ages 14 & 15 curfew: 21:00
Ages 16 & 17 curfew: 22:00

Junior students will never share a room with a student aged 18+, unless requested in writing by the parent).

Adult Courses (16 & 17 year olds only)

I understand that:

my child will come into regular contact with other students over the age of 18 in class and during leisure activities.
my child is responsible for buying their own lunch during the week.
if they are located in an adult residence I understand this accommodation is self-catered and my child will be responsible for buying their own breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
there are certain British laws (e.g. related to smoking and drinking alcohol) that apply to people under the age of 18. As a consequence
there may be some leisure activities in which my child cannot take part in because of their age.
I understand that ETC may reject a request for my child to go on an external excursion.

Consent for 18+

I consent to my child aged 16 or 17 to be placed in classes, attend activities/trips and share transport with students aged 18 or over. I understand my child may not be closely supervised.
